Use Case: System Inventory / Heartbeat

Use Case: System Inventory / Heartbeat

From IJT on MAR 01:

This is a #GIF ("Good Idea Fairy") notion that came from a meeting this week with a manufacturing CISO community I'm part of, and a discussion with CIL on "use case accelerators"

Having an inventory of systems is a really, really big pain point for CISOs in manufacturing.

It could be interesting to have a "spit and glue" system some day to use the unstructured discussion in Mattermost to create a structured list/mini-database of IT and OT/ICS systems,

This is kind of done today with information flowing into Mattermost from webhooks, with error messages, etc.

There's potentially an addition which is to ping out from Mattermost on a regular basis to run a diagnostic on a tool and ping back if there's an issue,

For security, this could be scanning for changes in configuration setting for example (and we might have logic somewhere in Mattermost to hold a little bit of state information)

There's potentially another addition to provide a green/yellow/red report daily, weekly, monthly on the different tooling and any issues.

There's another option to create a dashboard from this info, customized to in-house tools.

(Stretch) At some point there could be an AI-assistant to create sample code for adding the 20th, 21st, 22nd integration based on learned patterns

This is a #GIF for FF backlog we might consider, and the test would be a mix of talking to customers and implementing this in our own systems (e.g. cloud infrastructure),
