The Space Force has awarded Microsoft a $19.8 million contract to develop the Integrated, Immersive, Intelligent Environment (I3E). This augmented reality space simulation, powered by Microsoft's HoloLens headsets, will allow guardians to train and interact with digital copies of objects in orbit. The I3E aims to enhance personnel readiness and test new capabilities in a simulated space environment. The contract includes a reserved scope for potential three years of additional work. The Space Force plans to expand access to the I3E platform and pursue accreditation for hosting classified and unclassified data.
