Toolkit Improvements (Q1 2025)

There’s a common thread underlying all of slash commands, webhooks, plugins, and even no-code solutions – they all eventually use the same building blocks to interact with endusers:

• markdown formatted posts

• interactive dialogs

• interactive messages

• bot accounts

It’s painful to compare our implementation of these built-in building blocks with a mature offering like Slack’s Block Kit. We actually did move the needle on interactive dialogs recently as part of the Mattermost App Framework, but this now deprecated integration platform didn’t share those improvements with either plugins, basic integrations, or up-and-coming no-code solutions.

To kick off Q1 2025, this document proposes investing in these basic building blocks.
