We're using the codefortynine addon to connect Confluence to Mattermost, as the Atlassian Slack addon doesn't allow to connect to non-Slack instances. I like the ability to delegate what events in a space are forwarded to Mattermost to the space admins. This side of the integration is pretty much feature complete with the addon (Global, space & personal settings; configurable events, respecting view restrictions; support for label-based notifications; don't notify on minor edits; configurable notification format).

An idea would be, to break this handling down to a page level, syncing all comments on a Confuence page to a specific channel or even message thread in Mattermost. We've pages which are heavily used for collaboration by non-MM users. Keeping these page comments in sync with a message thread in MM coudl help.

What is completely missing, is the integration from Mattermost to Confluence, and imho, this is the functionality to focus on: We should be able to send a message as a page comment to a Confluence page. This implies the ability to search for spaces and/or pages. We actually don't need to copy the content of a page into a MM channel, just the link & a preview/view feature would be nice.

To sum it up: Focus on MM => Confluence functions:

  • Search for pages/blogs/attachments

  • Create a (preview) link in MM

  • Add messages as comments to pages

  • Create a page/blog post from a message (thread)
