This page outlines the near-term plan for improvements to the Trial experience.

Website:  

  • New primary CTA in header directing to trial form 

  • Update CTAs on use case pages to trial form with UTM parameters 

  • Updated trial form → Preview form

    • Remove 2500+ redirect 

    • Update form fields 

Docs:  

  • “Try Mattermost” page summarizing trial journey 

  • Updates to existing pages where trial is mentioned to point to new experience 

Sandbox:  

  • Reduce cloud trial expiry to 1 day 

  • Direct users to self-hosted journey for test drive after expiry 

  • Updates to system console page in Cloud sandbox 

Nurture:  

  • Minimal updates to Cloud nurture journey to reflect reduced sandbox expiry 

Outstanding questions: 

  • What are we calling this experience (trial, sandbox, preview, evaluation) and how do we clearly communicate it so the user expectations are clear going into it? 

  • Where are we directing users after the sandbox expires?  

  • Can we have a landing page for expired workspaces (assuming the user saves the url or hits a link in email nurture)? 

  • Do we want to direct to the self-hosted trial form since it provides the “keys”? 

  • Do we have a user friendly place to send people for deploy instructions?
